Welcome, gay NASCAR fans! Hope everyone had a happy gay Pride! I sure did -- so much so that I'm updating way late this week! I taped the race and tried to watch it after I got home, but you know how that goes. After a long day of cocktailing, nothing will put you to sleep like a road race! Oh Mary, I was OUT!
I did enjoy the opening, where Tina Coleman of Raceway Ministries brought the invocation, and pianist Eric Lewis presented a triumphantly embellished version of the National Anthem -- on a piano mounted inside the shell of a racecar! Whoever thought that up, you go, girl.
What a terrible irony! In the same week that Jr. beat out Jeff to win the Sexiest Driver contest, his car broke on the third lap, he finished 22 laps down AND there is more press about whether his days at DEI might be numbered. How awful! What is wrong at DEI?
As for Jr.'s driving, well, y'all who are Southern will know that the old "country" way of going on strike is to keep working but slow way, way down. And here's a question Dixie asked me and I'll ask you: You see all these other car owners at the track backing their team and doing interviews and stuff -- but where is Teresa?
Please forgive me, for I just can't watch that sleep-inducing race tape! Even Betty Jack needs a break. Tune in Saturday night for the Big Show and the Lisa Marie Presley concert before the action!
See you in Daytona! Let's all meet up down at the Track Bar!
Love,
Betty Jack DeVine
